Pilgrims
4 years ago (when we lived in Connecticut) my mother-in-law (Norma) came out for a visit. She had heard that her family were decendents of the pilgrims... someone that actually came over on the Mayflower. So we took a trip up to Plymouth, Massachusetts. This is Patrick and I (pregnant with Parker) on the streets of Plymouth. It was really beautiful there.
We visited the Mayflower (Replica). This is Patrick in the cabin area of the boat.

And we also visited Plymouth Plantation. This is the actual settlement spot for the pilgrims. Patrick liked running ahead of us.

It was in the Plantation store that my mother-in-law found a book that linked her ancestor information to the the Mayflower. She had traced her family back to the Wheelers, which was just 2 generations from the mayflower. Through the book she connected the Wheelers to the Whites. As you can imagine, she was thrilled, and now we can tell you the following:

This is Patrick and I in front of Plymouth Rock. It's amazing to think we were standing where Patrick's 12th generation previous had stood. Now as we learn about the pilgrims, the trials they endured, and their fight to find freedom in a new world, we can truely be filled with gratitude for their sacrifices and honor them.

That is the Patrick I remember, not the grown up Patrick. Crazy how time flies. That is really cool about your ancestors. What a fun experience.
How fun!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I answered your comment on my blog ;)
What a neat trip! We went there on that tour with the institute. Did you take that trip? I can't remember.
